This place is a go to lunch spot in Cupertino. I'm usually here for the Tori Nanban Don as it has a lunch portion of chicken and eggplant with the usual paired sides: miso soup, salad. Value is definitely here as portions are plenty and tastes tends to be on point and consistent. Recently I got the Dry Curry Don which is also good but does get repetitive after a few bites being the same ground meat/rice/curry. Overall the experience would be food: 4 service: 5 ambiance: 5 damn solid

3.5 stars rounded up We came for Father's Day and you definitely need a reservation. The restaurant was packed and people who wanted to do walk ins were quoted waits over an hour. When you reserve you should specify if you would like tatami seating or regular. Be advised that tatami seating is shoes off so you may want to wear socks for the occasion. Also note that there's no back support for the seat which can be a little uncomfortable for a long dinner. That being said the food was great. My favorite were the clay pot rice and beef tongue katsu. The ceviche was nothing to write home about so I'd skip it next time. Service from the waiters was pretty good but the lady at the front managing seating/reservations had an unfriendly demeanor which is kind of off putting before you even start your meal.

Great fusion tapas place with regular seating but also traditional sitting on tatami with no shoes seating options. Reservations are a must. For my party of 5, we booked a week ahead and there was only 5:30 or 7:15 left for dinner. While busy, the service is fair and sometimes you just gotta wave for their attention. We ordered the unagi clay pot rice, salmon clay pot rice, udon noodle soup, pea sprouts, agedashi tofu, sirloin steak in a soy miso marinade, and grilled squid. We enjoyed the unagi rice, agedashi tofu, and steak the most! The others were not ad flavorful. Everyone loved the sweet potato custard and ice cream dessert! It's a must. Would definitely return - fun spin on Japanese food in a unique atmostphere.
